We are pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Farima Nawabi as the new Executive Director of DEFAW. Ms. Nawabi brings with her an unwavering dedication to advancing the rights of women in Afghanistan, drawn from years of experience in diplomacy, research, teaching, and advocacy. Throughout her career, she has been a fierce champion for justice, equality, and the protection of fundamental human rights.
Ms. Nawabi’s leadership marks a new chapter in DEFAW’s mission for advocacy. Her extensive diplomatic experience at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan and several other national and international organizations brings a renewed focus on international cooperation and building strategic alliances. Her strong academic background in strategic leadership and policy further strengthens DEFAW’s capacity to address the complexities of today’s global landscape, ensuring that the rights of Afghan women remain at the forefront of international discourse.
Women in Afghanistan have endured immense challenges, especially in recent years, as their rights have been systematically eroded under the current repressive regime. With the appointment of Ms. Nawabi, DEFAW is empowered to further amplify its voice and influence. Her leadership underscores our mission to unite advocates globally and create a powerful collective force to advance women’s rights in Afghanistan.
The founder of DEFAW, Ms. Aryana Sayeed, together with the Board Members warmly welcome Ms. Nawabi to this critical leadership role.
